Types of Class: Regular and Intensive

1. Regular Class (half a year at least): enrolled twice a year in March and September, respectively and offering threshold, elementary, intermediate and advanced courses. Teaching is conducted in small classes formed in accordance with the applicants¡¯ requirements and the result of the placement test.
¡ï Compulsory Courses:
¡¡¡¡Threshold and Elementary Level: Integrated basic skills training (including grammar), listening, speaking, Chinese character reading and writing
¡¡ ¡¡Intermediate and Advanced Level: Integrated basic skills training (including grammar), listening, speaking, writing and reading.
¡ï Textbooks to be used:
Those written and published by Beijing Language and Culture University or Beijing University.
¡ï Optional:
Taijiquan (Martial Arts), Chinese calligraphy, Chinese culture, background to China, audio-visual speaking practice, cooking, coaching class for the HSK Test. These courses are offered on a selective basis.
¡ï Specific Features of the Program:
Focus on the training of the students¡¯ ability to practically use the language they have learnt: Class size is limited to an average of 15 people each to provide every student with sufficient individual training time with the teacher in class. Speech contests in Chinese supervised by the teachers are organized once every semester with all students participating. A good language environment is provided by the school for students to practice the language they have learnt.
Intensive Training: Classes are given from Monday through Friday, with twenty-four contact hours for compulsory courses and free access to the extra coaching class for the HSK Test.
Highly qualified faculty: In addition to the full-time teachers of Chinese employed for the program, lecturers and professors are invited from the university¡¯s Departments of Chinese Language and Mass Media Journalism to teach the courses of Chinese.
Remarkable achievements made in the programs offered and the extra-curriculum activities provided are warmly received by both the teaching staff and the students, attracting more and more newcomers to join in.

2. Intensive class (2 ~ 6 weeks): Run on the basis of individual application, usually during summer or winter vacations (starting from mid-January or mid-July), with the time and courses adjusted to suit the particular needs of the applicants. The minimum class size is five.
For group application, special arrangements can be made to suit the specific requirements of the applicants in terms of time and program content.
